Financial District

The Financial District
of New York, which is also called FiDi, includes the headquarters of many financial institutions, for example the World Financial Center or the Stock Exchange. It´s the area between south of City Hall Park and Battery Park and the heart of the district is the corner of Wall Street and Broad Street (look at the picture).

The Wall Street was the first home of the New York Stock Exchange and later on the surrounding area got the name of it, it´s also a metonymy for "influential financial interests".

The "Big Board" which is the nickname of the New York Stock Exchange is one of the largest stock exchanges in the world and it has 2,764 listed securities. The NYSE is very important for the economy in the USA.

The "Wall Street Bull","Charging Bull" or "Bowling Green Bull" is a 3,200kg bronze sculpture, which is in the Bowling Green Park. It stands for America´s aggressive financial optimism and prosperity.
